Marking Explain Writing.

WALT: use a rubric to mark a piece of writing.

Success criteria: I will use the rubric to mark then then write why I  gave it that point. I will add total of points and gave it a level.

In our  Tautoro School  we have so many new students who have enrolled  in our school. Because of the new enrollments every time we have a  powhiri or assembly we always get squashed, and we feel really uncomfortable. So the facility that is needed in Tautoro School  is a new hall. Why do we need a hall?
First a  hall is needed by Tautoro School because when we have new students enrolling in our school, every new child needs  a powhiri. There are more students enrolling into our school every week and we are feeling really squashed in our small library.  If we had a hall our manuhiri would feel more comfortable and they would be able to shake everybody's hands without pushing past students and then they would feel very welcomed, comfortable and feel more relaxed.
Secondly: if we had a community hall we would also be able to play sports inside.   If it was raining or if it became too hot. Then we wouldn't be missing out on our fitness and fitness  makes you feel good and it exercises your brain. And this would help students to concentrate more in class.
Another reason why we need a hall is so that we could get a kitchen built in the hall then we would be able to have technology at our school instead of travelling to town to use another school's kitchen.  We would be able to learn how to cook and bake and then we would be able to help our whanau cook and bake at home.

Last of all we need  a hall because our community would be able to use the hall in the weekend which will bring  all our local communities together for meetings or gala days.
In conclusion, I strongly believe we need a community hall at our school because our  Tautoro school community is growing every week with new students enrolling into our school. It is important  that we have a new hall so that we won't be squashed and then we would feel comfortable and then we would listen better because we would all feel relaxed. If we don't have a hall we will always feel squashed and we will not have enough room in our teeny library for new students.

Stem Activity

What is the science behind this challenge? The science behind this challenge is making a paper chair with only paper and tape strong enough to hold a teddy bear and big enough for him to sit on it.

Research this topic using books or and the internet record any information you may find. I found some instructions here is a link. Steps Start with a six inch square piece of paper. ... Fold the right and left side so they meet at the middle crease, and crease them well. The paper should be divided into four equal parts. ... Fold the paper the other way, and crease well. Fold the top right corner to meet the first vertical line and crease well.

What was your design solution for this challenge? I am going To make an origami chair out of paper and tape that is strong enough to hold the teddy bear.

What data can you record for this challenge? Student Lab Sheet:

 Paper Chair Challenge My Questions?
Were you successful in the challenge? Why?  Yes Me and my group were successful because we were able to make our chair strong enough to hold the teddy bear.

What was the most difficult part of the challenge? The Most difficult Part of the challenge was finding our own design and creating it.

Ihumatao

                         Ihumatoa
We have been learning about Ihumatao and the land issue.
We had to choose a side: Maori or Settlers and write  how it would of been at the time.
Here is mine:

I declare war I screamed!
I stood Glaring at the soldiers.
I could feel my body shake my fist clenched.
I want to take the Queens land I thought.
“I will not let you take My whenua, you have no chance,'' I said.
I stared around sadly and I could see loads of soldiers surrounding our whenua.
I could hear my Whanau crying like someone is getting buried.
I could smell the smoke from the soldiers  guns.

At The Whangarei Wave pools.

On the 25th of April 2019 my family and
I went to the Anzac Parade, we also went to
Whangarei wave pools for my nephews 5th Birthday.
We went on our car. When we got to the wave pools
I was so excited.
So the first thing I had to do was go inside to pay the
lady so I ran to pay the lady.

After that I ran to the girls changing room to get
changed. I was just wearing a t-shirt and shorts.
When I had finished getting changed
I went to the pool to have a swim.
When I got to the water I saw Amira
and Te-Hanah and all of my cousins. Amira
was going down the hydro slide and Te-Hanah was
swimming around the pool, when I started swimming
around I saw some of my cousins swimming and some
of my cousins sitting outside on the grass.

After that I started diving around the water.

Later on me and Huhana went down the hydro slide.
We were waiting in the really long line she went down
the light one and I went down the dark one it was fun.!

Next I went in to the spa it was so warm when
I got out of the spa I went to outside to run around.

After that I went inside and walked straight to the
cold pool when I got to the water I walked deeper
and then they turnt the waves on. It was so much fun!

Eventually me and Te-Hanah went down the hydroslide
it was so much fun. Later on my cousin came and told
us that “it is kai time” so we jumped out of the pool
and wrapped our towels around ourselves.
And then we had a kai, after we had some kai and
some cake we had to wait 5 minutes and then we
went for a swim while I was swimming some of my
cousins and their kids left.

Finally my family and I went to get changed and went home.
I had a wonderful day at the Whangarei wave pools.

I have achieved my WALT.

Artwork With Whaea Annie

16 March 2019 Last week Room 3 read a story called The Tree Hut Treaty. After that we got given some tasks. Our first task was to draw a picture of the tree hut. Our second task was to write down what our favourite part of the book is or what the reader was trying to say. So I think that the most important part of the story is learning about the treaty because a treaty keeps everybody safe and happy.

Artwork with Whaea Chanella

8.3.19 WALT: create a piece of artwork using crayon and dye and this artwork is called Batik artwork. This morning we created a piece of artwork using Crayon and dye. Firstly,we watched a video about lady drawing a fish and teaching us how to draw a fish. Then we were given an a4 piece of paper to draw our fish. We drew our fish with pencil first and then we chose three colours to colour over the pencil. Next we outlined it with black crayon to make it stand out. Once this was done we scrunched up our paper twice and then put black dye over the top. After that we wrote out our walt on a piece of paper.
