Tautoro School

6/12/17
Why I like Tautoro school.
I want to talk about how amazing Tautoro school is.
Firstly I think Tautoro school is a fantastic learning school  because we get to have lots of teachers and we get lots of visitors that help us learn, like Whaea Hilary. She  helps us with our reading and we also get Whaea Janet. She helps us with our spelling and she helps us with many other things.  We also have Mrs Graham who helps us with reading and she helps us with tests.
We play sports with Matua Matt. We play Rippa Rugby, Tackle Rugby, Soccer, Touch and many other sports.

Secondly  I think Tautoro school is a fantastic learning school because we get to do dance with Whaea Dorothy We learn new dance skills.

Another reason  I think Tautoro school is a fantastic learning school is because we learn how to plant seeds with Whaea Hera and we learn about the seeds and how they grow.

Finally I think Tautoro School is a fantastic learning school because  at Tautoro school we learn how to achieve our learning goals and we also learn amazing new learning skills.

Recount Writing - At the Christmas parade.

WALT use the correct structure and language for recount writing.
4/12/17
At the Christmas parade.
Yahoo! On a lovely Saturday morning my family and I went to the Christmas parade.
It was in the main street of Kaikohe.
First I saw  fire engines and lots of the other floats.
I thought it was going to be boring but it was fun.
Next I saw people dressed up as fairies. They were the people giving the lollies out. There were lots of people there.
Later on my mum said, “Let's go to the rugby field and look at the stalls.” When we got to the rugby field my mum said, “Oh that's right we have hangi in the back. We could sell them.” Me and my cousin said, “Ok.” So we grabbed the hangi out and we grabbed the sign and the table out and  we set up our stall. When our stall was set up, we started to sell the hangi. Later on we had no more hangi.
Then we went for a walk to look at the other stalls and the rides. There were lots of kids on the bouncy castle. I thought it was going to pop. But more and more people                                                                                got on and it did not pop. I felt very nervous because there were even babies on the bouncy castle.
Finally I said to my mum, “Mum it is as hot as the pot boiling.” My mum said, “Let’s go home.” My cousin and I said, “Ok.”

Seed to Feed

1/12/17
Seed to feed.
In room 3 we have been learning about plants. When we started to plant the seeds  I felt nervous but then we finally started to grow the seeds. The first thing we had  to do was half  fill the container  up with soil. Then we put the seeds in the middle of the container and then cover the seeds with soil and we also had to water them and wait for the seeds to germinate. While we waited we watered them and when they were finished growing we had to bring them to the class from the garden.  We put the plants  on the table ready to sell at the Tautoro school market.

The plants we have to sell are  Tomato, Rhubarb, Nasturtium, Sunflowers, carrot, Beetroot and many more.

Here is a photo. Doesn’t this look awesome! We will be selling the plants for $1 and we are also selling clothes for $2 each. We might make $200 I reckon. Hopefully we make $200 or more for our class. We will be making a BIG PROFIT.

Recount Writing - At Wellington pools.

WALT use the correct structure and language for Recount Writing.
    16/10/09
 At Wellington pools.
Yahoo! On a lovely Thursday morning my Dad, my Sister and I went to the Wellington pools. When we got there the first thing I did was I ran to the changing room to put my swimming togs on. Next I ran to the shallow end of the pool and dived into the water. While I was under the water I saw lots of people’s legs and I saw people swimming around. And then suddenly I heard my name. It was my sister calling me. She was saying, “Sally, Sally, Sally come.” I came out of the water and said, “Ok then.”  I went to see what she wanted. She said, “Where were you?”
I said, “I was diving under water and  looking around.”

She said, “Ok.” After that we started to play master. There was even a hoop as big as an elephant. It was fun playing master. Next we went on the hydroslide. The hydroslide was huge. I loved going down the hydroslide. It was funny. My sister kept making us stuck because she was scared to go down so I thought to myself, “I'm going to go by myself.” Then suddenly my sister came down as fast as a race car. Later on I went back into the pool. It was outstanding on the hydroslide. Shortly after my dad said, “Let's go and get some lunch.” Me and my sister said, “Ok then.” Then we went to get some lunch. Eventually we went home and while my dad was driving us home  I said, to my dad, “Dad that was the best day ever. Thank You for taking me there.” Finally went home. I loved it at the Wellington pools.

We should play sport every day.
Firstly I think we should play sport everyday is because  we get fit when we are playing the games. Sports gives us exercise.
Secondly I think we should play sport every day because we learn how to play as a team when we are passing the ball to each other.
Another reason I think we should play sport everyday is because we learn cool new skills when we are listening to to the coach.
Lastly  I think we should play sport every day  because we get more fresh air and more oxygen and we have  fun when we are playing the games.
So that's why I think we should play sport every day.

Persuasive Writing - Kapahaka is important to learn.

20/09/17
WALT to use the correct structure for Persuasive Writing.
Kapahaka is important to learn.

I think that kapahaka is important to learn.
Firstly. I think kapahaka is important because it helps us with our fitness. When we are doing the actions we are moving around.
Secondly I think kapahaka is important because you learn to sing in tune.
Another reason why I think kapahaka is important is because it helps us with our Te Reo Maori. All of the songs we learn are in Te Reo Maori.
Lastly I think kapahaka is important because we connect with our tupuna especially when we sing songs from the olden days.
So that’s why I think kapahaka is important.

Recount Writing - Cross Country

I am learning to use the correct structure and language for Recount Writing.
17/08/17
                                   Cross Country
“Ready, set, go!” shouted Whaea Rosina.
It was Wednesday morning. I was racing the rest of the 7 and 8 year olds. We were racing at the Padlie farm. Our racing course was gigantic and hard to run. It had a hill to race up and puddles to race through and lots of paddocks to run around. My group had to race around the course twice.
When I got up the hill my heart was pumping as fast  as a racecar. While I was running I was breathing hard and fast. When  I was running down the hill I felt like I was going to fall over.  When I got to the puddles I ran straight through the water. My legs felt like wobbly jelly.  While I was running I heard the parents screaming and yelling and I heard Miss Simeon supporting the runners. My side felt like I got stabbed with a knife. It was very painful  when I was on my second lap. I saw parents cheering and I saw a lot of nature. All of a sudden I got a terrible pain in my chest. I was crying because it was so painful.
Whaea Mari said to me, “Are you alright?” I said, “No.”
Whaea Mari took me back to Whaea Rosina and Whaea Dawnette. They told me to sit down. So I sat with them till the 7 and 8 year old’s race was finished.
I was watching the rest of the kids run. After cross country I felt tired.
It was amazing at the Padlie farm doing cross country even though I didn’t finish my race.

Recount Writing - At Whangarei

I am learning to use the correct structure and language for Recount Writing.
In Whangarei.
Yahoo! On a lovely Saturday morning my family and I went to Whangarei to watch the kapa haka groups at Whangarei Girls High School. The first thing I did was to watch Okaihau College perform on the stage. The girls had moko on their chins. The moko were amazing.
I saw my aunty performing for Okaihau College. She was in the front row. Next we watched Northland College. They were good. They sang beautifully.
Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Kaikohe were performing. The girls that were performing were singing loud and the boys were doing the haka. Then I asked  my mum if she can buy me some lunch. My lunch was yummy and delicious. I bought a chocolate cake. It had delicious chocolate icing. The chocolate icing was like a shower of chocolate sprinkles. It was a chocolate ice cream with sprinkles on it. The day was blazing hot. I asked my mum if she could buy a drink. She said, “Yes.”
I said, “Thankyou.”
She got me a fizzy drink.
We finished watching the kapahaka performances. They were outstanding. I loved every moment of the kapahaka.

Recount Writing - At the Marae.

I am learning to use the correct structure and language for recount writing.
`26/07/17
At the Marae.
Yahoo! On a lovely Saturday afternoon my family and I went to the marae so my mum can have a meeting. We went in our car.  The marae was in Tautoro. The marae is called Te Riingi. My brother and my sister were there. Waihemonga and Rangi were there as well.
I felt excited. The day was as hot as a kettle boiling. My brother found a ball and then he said, “Who wants to play with the ball.”
Me and my sister said, “Yes Please.” Then we played master’s.
To play master someone has to be master and the other people have to line up and wait for their turn. When it is their turn they have to try and get the master out. That's how you play master.  It was my turn. Sheaandra was master. I got Sheandra out because I threw the ball and got it into the hoop and got a point. I said to myself, “Yay I got a point.” I felt thrilled.  It was a good day at the marae. When we were playing master and other games we had fun. We even played stuck in the mud. To play stuck in the mud some one has to be in. And the other people have to try and run away and if the person who is in tags you, you are stuck in the mud and if you want someone to free you someone has to crawl under your legs to free you first. I said to myself, “Stuck in the mud is a really fun game.”

You should try playing stuck in the mud.

WALT add details to help our readers understand our story.
You can also add interesting words, talking, similes, feelings and thoughts.

I went to rippa rugby.
Yahoo! On Thursday morning my school and I went to the Kaikohe rugby fields to play rippa rugby. We were  having fun.
I felt excited to play.
When we got to the rugby fields we saw lots of teams.
I said to myself, “Whoa that is a lot of people.”
The first thing I did was practice passing the ball around and ripping tags. I felt cheerful and good.
Next I went to go have a meeting with the other schools and we were talking about the rules of the game.
I said to myself, “This is going to be a good game.”
I felt pumped and keen to play rippa rugby.
The day was as hot as a kettle boiling
After that, the game started and we did rock paper scissors to decide who got the ball first. The other team won and they got the ball first.
I felt confident when I was on the field.
We had four games. We won all of our games.
I felt proud of my team. We got into the finals.
For the final challenge we played against Okaihau. It was an easy game. We won. The score was 9-1. Yay! We were the champions for the Year 5’s.
I said, “Yay, we won.” I was so happy.
I thought it was a cool day.

Recount Writing-I went to the Park

WALT add details to help our readers understand our story.

I also added interesting words, talking, similes, feelings and thoughts.

I went to the park.
On a lovely Saturday afternoon my family and I went to the park in our car. The park was in Kaikohe.  We went to the park to have fun. I felt  pumped to play on the park because I love playing on the swing.
When we got to the park I saw lots of things to play on.
I said to myself, “Hmmm which one should I play on first?” I said, “Yes I can play on the swing.”
The first thing I did at the park was to play on the swing. I was swinging higher and higher like a monkey swinging on a branch.
I felt happy and  thrilled.
Next I zoomed to the monkey bars. It was a blazing hot day.
I said, “Mum look at me, I’m going back and forwards. She said, “Cool.” I felt like it was my birthday.
After that I went to play on the swing again. It was fun on the swing. I felt happy and excited when we were playing at the park in Kaikohe.

Recount Writing-Joeche's birthday

WALT add detail to help our readers to understand our story.
21/6/17
At Joeche's. Birthday
Yahoo! On a lovely Saturday afternoon my family and I went to Joeche's birthday. His birthday was at Andy’s house. It was exciting at Joeche's because there was a bouncy castle. First I went on the bouncy castle and bounced higher and higher. It was fun bouncing on the bouncy castle. Next me VJ and Andy and Te Kapua played longball. Me and Te kapua were on batting. It was equal teams that means the teams have the same amount of players. Andy was cheating so then I said to Andy, “Stop cheating. I'm not playing. You are a cheater.” After that the pinata came out. It was fun smashing the pinata open. There was lots of lollies in the pinata. I thought it was fun. Later on I went back on the bouncy castle and played with the ball on the bouncy castle. I threw the ball so high that when I tried to catch I had to jump and then I fell on my stomach. It was sore. Finally we finished playing on the bouncy castle and the time was 12.09. We had fireworks at night time. It was splendid doing the fireworks. After that I said to my mum, “Can we go home please mum?” She said, “Yes.” I said, “Thank you mum.’’ Then my family and I went home.

Recount Writing-At the park.

I am learning to write a recount about a great moment from my holiday.
03/05/2017
                              At the Park.
Yahoo! On a lovely sunny Saturday I went to the park with my cousin to play.
First me and my cousin played on the swing. It was exciting playing on the swing because we were going so high. Next me and my cousin played on the monkey bars. While we were playing on the monkey bars I said to my cousin, “Should we go on the slide?” She said, “Yes.” After that me and my cousin went on the slide. I thought I was going to get burnt then I hopped on the slide and raced down as quick as lightning. While I was going down I went swoosh swoosh on my back. It was as hot as a bottle boiling and the day was also as bright as the sun shining. Later on my cousin said, “Let's go on the swing again.” I said to my cousin, “Ok.” When we got to the swing more people started coming to the park and it was getting hotter. So then my cousin said to me, “Should we go for a drink?” I said, “Yes.” At last me and my cousin went for a drink at the water fountain at the park.
It was enjoyable at the park in Kaikohe.

Recount Writing - Rugby in Okaihau.

I am learning to use the correct structure and language for Recount Writing.
04/04/17
Rugby in Okaihau.
Yahoo on a lovely Saturday me and my team Tautoro Titans went to Okaihau to play rugby. It was terrific because we were allowed to tackle. We were only allowed to tackle people because it was tackle rugby.
First we versed Okaihau and they were hard because they had fast people. The fast people always got a try  and some slow people got a try. We stopped heaps of times because we had to do a line out. Next we versed Kerikeri. It was marvelous and outstanding. Rangamarama grabbed a boy and tackled him so he couldn’t get a try. After that we had to do a scrum because both of the teams were fighting over the ball. While they were fighting the referee  blew the whistle and said we had to have a scrum. So then we did. I thought we were going to win but we lost. My team and I were running as fast as we could. It was hard. Next we got tackled.
Then it was getting even harder. It was getting hot but it was excellent. I was running so fast that my legs felt like jelly. They felt so wobbly and I was shaking. After that it was our turn to kick  the ball. The other team tried to get the ball but they couldn’t catch the ball because VJ kicked it so high.
We lost our games but at least we had fun.
I loved playing rugby in Okaihau on Saturday.
